Kodansha USA

Kodansha USA is the American arm of Kodansha, the largest publisher in Japan, founded in Tokyo in 1909 and still family-held. The US operation was established in 2008 to bring the parent company's manga into English directly rather than licensing it to others.

Its catalog is drawn from Kodansha's own magazines, which means titles with decades of history behind them: Akira, Ghost in the Shell and Sailor Moon sit alongside Attack on Titan, one of the best-selling manga series ever published.

The line has since absorbed much of what was previously licensed out to other English-language publishers.
