Synopsis

Mary Lou’s conservative father opposes her relationship with jazzman Dix, so she runs away with him. Dix, Mary, and their band become popular among the cognoscenti; after playing in France, they return to New York and plan to wed. Radio singer June hires Dix to write songs for her; even though this pays well, Mary says this isn’t Dix's style and will hurt his career, and they separate. As Mary predicted, June’s renditions of Dix’s music fail. Dix returns to jazz, and to Mary, whom he marries.
